1) The Beach Blast 5K starts at 8:00 am at the Courthouse on Second St. in Downtown Albemarle.
2) Packet Pick-up will be from 9-8 Thursday May 6th, Friday 9-6 and at 7:00 am at Vac & Dash. Vac & Dash is located at 231 W. Main Street in Albemarle. 704-983-3274
3) The starting line is two blocks away from the store. The finish line is about 200 yards away from Vac & Dash on Depot Street. Awards will be at Liberty Gardens the corner of Depot Street and Main St. The Salisbury Rowan Runners will time the race. They say results should be ready by 9:15 am.
Finish Line Instructions:
Do not pass anyone once you cross the finish line.
You will be handed a note card with your finishing place once you cross the finish line.
Hand the card to the scorers table at the end of the finish line chute.
If you don't turn your card in, your results can not be posted.
Leave the finish line area.
Parking and Bathrooms
4) There's plenty of parking downtown. If you park by the start, please note that we will blocking off some spots by the Courthouse to keep the roads wide for the start.
There's plenty of parking on Main St. and First Street.
You can park in the lot behind Vac & Dash. They'll be three spaces blocked off for employees at
Albemarle Music Store. Also, on Depot Street in a lot you see a no parking sign.
I talked to the owner of the lot. He asked that you not park there as he has trucks coming in there Saturday morning to pick up goods.
5) You can use the Bathrooms at Vac & Dash. We loaded up on the TP and Citrus Spray.
There will be 4 porto-johns at the start of the race.
6) Showers - For those of you coming from out of town, if you show your race bib at the front desk of the YMCA, you can use there shower facilities. The YMCA is located on First Street in Albemarle.

8) It's going to be hot Saturday morning.
The Uwharrie Running Club will provide water at the 1 mile and 2 mile mark.
9) Awards will begin at approx. 9:15 in Liberty Gardens at approx. 9:15 am. Please do not trample the plants.

Top Ten Reasons To Run The 6th Annual Beach Blast 5K
10) Beach Blast 5K is a great race to run for the entire family. Above, Jeremy Shaver runs with both of his children.
9) Cool Runner Dude With Surf Board Logo on t-shirts (This year's shirts are vegas gold).
Register by March 31st to upgrade to a coolmax shirt.
8) Top Three Men and Top Three Women finishers get a Custom Gourd with their name and time carved in the gourd. (Renee Asciutto is the Gourd Artist. She carves the Beach Blast logo into the gourds and as the race ends, she is on hand to carve the winners names and time into the gourd.)
7) Top Five Male and Female Finishers get a Beach Blast 5K Top Five Finisher T-Shirt
6) Awesome Goodie Bags . Nylon drawstring bags, donated by Farm Bureau will be used as the race bags. This year's goody bag should be the best ever. I'd tell what's going in the bags, but it would ruin the surprise.
5) Great post-race food, including custom 5K Sugar Cookies baked at The Sweet Shop
4) Weekly Prizes will be given to pre-registered runners to preregistered runners beginning March 15th.
3) Bring canned or non-perishable dry food and earn a chance to win a$50.00 Gift Certificate donated by Vac & Dash.
Canned food drive is to benefit the Stanly County Christian Ministries
2) The Beach Blast 5K offers a net elevation drop with a fast downhill finish.
