Get Ready for the 2008 Rocky River Cross Country Camp
The goal of the camp is to motivate rising 9th-12th graders
the motivation to run over the summer to prepare for Cross Country Season.
Details will be available soon for this years camp.

Runners ran and had fun.
Twenty-five runners participated in the first ever Rocky River Cross Country Camp.
The six week camp was part of the Albemarle Parks and Recreation Department and was organized
by Vac & Dash. The goal of the camp was to motivate the kids to run over the summer.
Runners met on Tuesday and Thursday evenings at various parts of Stanly County to run and
have fun. At the Dash & Splash night at Rock Creek Park, the kids were treated to pizza
and a swim in the Rock Creek Pool after a hard workout. In the picture above, a water balloon fight
cooled them down after running the hills of Chuck Moorehead.
For the last run of the camp, runners met at the boat ramp at Morrow Mountain State Park
and ran the 3.0 miles to the summit of Morrow Mountain. It was quite the climb!

Gray Stone's Patrick Sullivan was in third place twenty yards behind the leader's with 1/2 mile to go.
He emerged from the woods the leader and ran his way to victory at the 1-A Mid-West Regionals.

Note's from the weekend:
West Stanly's Daniel Yeakley (17:16) and South Stanly's Jade Farlow (20:27) set course records at the
Run the Valley 5K in Badin, NC.
At the Cannon Invitational in Concord, the Gray Stone Boys finished 1st in
the 12 team meet with the Mount Pleasant Boys finishing 2nd in the Division II race. The Gray Stone Girls
took the Division II Girls race.
A shout-out goes to eighth-grader Hunter Latimer (in the center between the Gray Stone and Mount Pleasant girls).
She took third overall in the Girls Division II with a 22:19.
