Gini and I have been happily married for 21 years and continue to live in Apopka, FL. We have a 17 year old son, Andy who will be a senior at Lake Brantley High School as well as two “daughters”, Molly and Millie who happen to be Boxers. We’re not sure who they favor but we’ll bring pictures and let you decide. Gini continues to work as a computer programmer specializing in hospital software while I’m still slugging it out as a banker. Since we’ve both been at our respective occupations for about 25 years, it’s safe to say that although our jobs are rewarding, we look forward to weekends and vacations. For the past ten years or so we’ve tried to spend as much time as possible at a little place that we have in New Smyrna Beach. Gini loves the beach and collecting various shells while I do quite a bit of flats fishing, not to be confused with actually catching fish.
Thirty years is a long time to remember everything that we’ve done but one common denominator is that we’ve stayed busy. We’ve traveled a bit within the U.S. and overseas. If you don’t already know take it from us, vacationing with a 17 year old can be a trying experience. If he only knew how close we were to putting him on a plane in Munich, Germany . . . but that’s a whole different story. Actually he’s a great kid but we both hope to live long enough to watch him deal with his teenager(s).
With Gini’s understanding and support I’ve been able to partially satisfy my addiction to auto racing. Most of my racing these days is restricted to historic sports cars (I’m not sure if the historic designation is for me or the car) but I still have a lot of fun. With the help of a lot of people we’ve been able to score some pretty good finishes including a 5th in class at the Sebring 12 Hour and a 2nd in class at the Rolex 24 at Daytona.
Looking back Sebring was a great place to grow up and Sebring High School was certainly memorable. The senior prom, football games, fun teachers (Mrs. Steiner and Mr. Locke), slave driver teachers (Mrs. Rankin), Jesse Wilmoth’s attempt at pole vaulting, watching Artie McIntyre “tame” a rattlesnake and the list goes on and on.
Kim Parsons Hinterschied
Kim (Parsons) Hinterschied spends her time as a full-time mother and wife. Married to Tom for the past 15 years, my days are spent home schooling our three beautiful children; Kelley (14), Laura (12) and Thomas Jr. (3) at our home in Pompano Beach, Florida.
Prior to motherhood, I worked in retail management for Colony Shops for fifteen years. After rising through the ranks at Colony to District Manager I moved on to work for Gordon Brothers for six years.
After leaving the corporate world, I started my own Ebay business and also breed Labrador retrievers; this was in addition to running our outboard boating business. Today my husband continues to enjoy life on the open water as a Boat Captain for a family run enterprise. My kids and I enjoy being able to travel with him to the Bahamas.
As a family we enjoy camping, fishing and hunting. We are very involved in our local church (Coral Ridge Presbyterian in Fort Lauderdale) EE, Bible studies, Sunday school and sponsored outreach programs.
What I remember most about attending Sebring High -- the friendships that were made, the quality education, and the small town atmosphere!

Peter Asciutto

I'm living in Albemarle, North Carolina, a town similar in size to Sebring while we were growing up. After high school I went to SFJC and then on to graduate from Troy State University.
I combined 15 years of vacuum sells with my love for running to open Vac & Dash, a store that sells vacuums and running shoes. Hey, it's a weird combo, but it works in a small town. I've competed in ten marathons, none of them fast. We have a Vac & Dash Rracing Team with the motto: "We eventually get there!" The strange combo helps me get a lot of free press. Vac & Dash will be mentioned in an upcoming edition of Southern Living magazine.
I've been married for 15 years to Renee with a 13 year old son, Gregory. My wife owns a hair salon so I don't have to be gray. I never thought I'd leave Sebring. But the first time I mowed my lawn in June and didn'tt sweat, I knew I loved it in North Carolina.
Favorite Sebring story I tell: Bobby Hendry shooting himself in the leg with his own bow and arrow.

What have you done with yourself for the past thirty years?: Work, work, and more work. I'm still work working for Robbins Nursery, 14 years in July. I’ve been doing a lot of writing. I write a monthly newsletter for Robbins Nursery. Also, I have been writing poetry for about 20 or so years and working on getting published. Raising 2 sons and enjoying being a grandmother!
What I remember most about Sebring High: Ummmmmmmm, Art class with Mr. Smith. Mrs. Williams’s English class was a blast. Just hanging out with friends.

Pat Mays Hollenberg
I am still in high school. I married Dean Hollenberg 26 years ago and we have 3 children, twins, Stephanie and Melissa, 18, and Jonathan, 10 years old. They keep me hopping. I have been teaching Home Ec in Highlands county for 25 years, with the last 10 years teaching mostly Culinary Arts at Sebring High.
It has been interesting working with, instead of under, some of the same teachers that were there 30 years ago. You might like to know who is still there(or just recently retired or passed away); I'll try to update you. Barbara Dean was the principal until a few years ago when she retired. Bill West, Resource Dean, just retired and Gary Rapp, who's a Resource Dean, retires in January. Bill Page retired a year or 2 ago and passed away shortly after retirement. Nancy Bates, just took over for Bill West, Jim Howard is an Assistant Principal, Bill Foster (English), Susan Accorsi (Home Ec), Jim Bible and Rodney Hollinger (County Office), Dorothy Clark, deceased, Stu Guthrie (APHS principal), & Richard Wedig (Spanish).
Some SHS graduates who are teaching at SHS with me are Debbie Ercoli Wood (1977)(Assistant Principal), Carolyn Clark Campbell (1974)(Math), Janine Gowdy Hart (1977)(English), Tim Murphy (1975)(ESE), Tammie Robinson Pollard (1976)(English), and Mitch Moore (1979)(Deputy).
Tim Eures
I have been married to the former Cindy Crawford for 23 years (okay, not the supermodel, but super just the same, hopefully she will read this). After graduation I attended SFJC for one semester, took a semester off and received my A.A. in 1991, took a semester off and got my B.S.B.A. in 2004, did not take a semester off and hope to finish my M.B.A. at Webber in 2007.
I began my career in the fire services in 1978 with Sebring Fire Department and since 1991 I have worked as the Director of Emergency Operations for Highlands County overseeing Fire, Emergency Management, and 911/Dispatch. Thought about retiring in 2004 with all the hurricanes, but realized Charley, Francis and Jeanne wouldn’t wait!
I have 3 great kids, Loren (1995), Nolan (1990) and Aaron (1985). Thank goodness 2000 was a child free year. I am proud of Aaron who recently went to work with Sebring Fire Department. Being responsible for the County Hazmat Team, I look forward to having John Gose teach a class on the effects of Sodium, water and school toilets!!
Looking forward to seeing everybody at the reunion, I recently dyed my hair white for the occasion, hope you like it.
Cathy Wells Mirelez

Cathy Wells Mirelez (mur-l-ez) What am I up to now? I am currently employed full-time, with the City of Gilroy, in California, as the Cultural Arts Supervisor. I plan and coordinate 4 city-wide Art Festivals/Shows, one each season of the year, specifically targeted for either adults, children, or the community at large, a summer Concert in the Park Series, as well as 4 Children's Theater productions per year, and many types of art, music & dance classes for all ages. I also supervise our Historical Museum and it's staff. I love my job!
What have I been up to for the last 30 years? After moving with my family to California in 1978, I then attended Brigham Young University and took classes in Child Development and Art. I've been married to Ray Mirelez, a Rehabilitation Therapist specializing in the developmentally disabled population, for 25 years, and we have 2 wonderful sons, Jacob & Josh. From 1981 - 89, I was a graphic artist/events coordinator for the City of Gilroy, part-time, as well as a pre-school instructor. In 1989, my mother & I opened our own preschool, "Sunshine Kids", which we owned & operated until 1998. We closed our school when mom retired and I was offered my current full-time position with the City.
I am a 5 year breast cancer survivor, and visited Sebring in the summer of 2001, with my sister Sheri, as a special treat after chemo and radiation treatments had been completed. We had a very special mini-reunion with old girl-friends, and loved being back in Sebring, if only for a short while! I am an active member of my church and love traveling, gardening, visiting my family & 2 sisters, and "home improvements" (which seem never-ending)!
My favorite memories of Sebring & Sebring High? Beautiful Lake Jackson, the "Circle", breath-taking sunsets, a wonderful High School education with so many caring teachers, great, great friends (the very best!), pep rallies, football games, dances, movies, skiing on the lake, church youth group activities & summer camp-outs, beach & pool parties.
Terri Martin
Terri is in Avon Park with her two kids, Kynnon, 19 and Kasey, 14. She works for Dennis L. Johns Flooring in Sales. She has lived in Avon Park since 1984.

Jim Riley
I retired from the military in 2003. I took a year to complete my teaching credentials and then applied for a high school teaching job here in Omaha, Nebraska. I then took a job at Offutt AFB teaching the military how to fly military jets. I'm not in the military anymore, but I still work in on a base. It was an easy transition.
Well I have one daughter married and living in Florida, another who is a senior in college here in Omaha and should graduate this summer, another who is a junior in high school, and another who starts preschool in August 2006. Been a busy life.
Mary Gray Stephenson
I'm still in Florida. I lived in Winter Haven after leaving Sebring and then built a home in Auburndale and lived there until February of last year. Then my husband and I bought a bigger home and moved back to Winter Haven. Our kids joke about our new house and say we waited until they were grown to get a bigger home with a pool. I told them of course that's the way it goes. When we moved into our new house, the house next door was for sale and a couple from West Virginia bought it and when I met the wife I said "You look like someone I went to school with" and sure enough it was Sharon Johnston. Sharon graduated in 1975 from Sebring. Small world.
As for work, I've been in the banking field for as long as I can remember. I was President of the hospital Credit Union until June 2005, when we merged with MidFlorida FCU and now I'm a Vice President and Branch Manager for the MidFlorida. I have two children, Jason is 22 and Kala, she's 18.
Verneka Lawrence Rhodes
I have lived right next door in Tampa, FL ever since college. I have two children, Jonathan 12 and Gianna 10. I am still in Engineering and work for the Public Works Department. I came home to Sebring this past weekend to attend a birthday party and was surprised at how much the town has expanded. My mom is doing fine and lives here in Tampa with me. |
